The quality of a garage can often be seen in the little things. It is therefore worth taking a close look at the details.
Anyone deciding for or against a garage from a particular supplier usually focuses on the “central” aspects such as the shape, the door or the roof. However, experts in the field recommend that you also look at the details of the garage – because the long-term quality of the garage depends more on these than you might initially think. With prefabricated garages in particular, it is often precisely these little things that make the difference!
An example of this: The vast majority of garages are installed at the installation site in such a way that access is via a paved driveway or forecourt. This paving is alive – i.e. the stones move under the influence of changing weather conditions. As a rule, only in the millimeter range. But this movement also “arrives” at the entrance to the garage. If this movement at the garage is not absorbed with suitable technical measures, either the paving bulges or the edge of the garage is damaged – or, if the direction of movement is reversed, a small gap is created into which water seeps, which can cause frost damage to the material in winter. ZAPF garages therefore use a so-called paving connection strip made of plastic, which can absorb this movement and prevent damage to the paving or garage edge.

Door joint protection element for the garage wall
Next example: Many cars nowadays have very large doors, which logically swing open very wide before they are stopped in predetermined positions by the vehicle’s door hinges. If you drive into a garage and open the car door without much thought and with momentum, it may hit the side wall of the garage. With corresponding consequences for the door edges! ZAPF and some other garage suppliers have therefore started to equip every garage delivered with so-called door impact protection elements, which can be fitted precisely in the swing-open area of the vehicle door to protect it from damage.
Garage construction manager service
However, according to experts, it is not only the “hardware” of a garage that needs to be considered in detail; the “surroundings” can also make a huge difference. Here is another example: nowadays, prefabricated garages are generally erected and assembled using special skip loaders or, in difficult assembly situations, with special cranes. A great deal of experience is required to answer the questions of when to use which set-down and assembly technology and whether preparatory measures may still be necessary (access regulations, minor conversions, etc.). An incorrect assessment of the situation can be extremely expensive – or lead to unpleasant delays. For this reason, those responsible at ZAPF have long relied on the so-called “site manager service”: a site manager specifically trained for this task visits the construction site around 3 – 4 weeks before the planned installation/assembly of the garage and checks the delivery and assembly situation. In this way, expensive and time-consuming assembly interruptions can be avoided! Details can be found at www.zapf-garagen.de/garagen-carports/lieferung-und-montage.html.
