Longer, wider, higher – cars in Germany are getting bigger and bigger. What does this mean for garage construction? <\/p>\n

According to the study by the Duisburg-based CAR Center Automotive Research, cars have grown considerably over the years, especially in terms of width. Between 1990 and May 2020, new cars have become over 14 centimetres wider on average (from 1.68 m to 1.82 m). The increase in length is also considerable – while cars were still 4.26 meters long on average in 1990, the average length of a new car today is 4.45 meters. <\/p>\n

VW Golf over 40 centimeters wider!<\/h2>\n

Who remembers it – the first Golf? With exterior mirrors, it was 1670 mm wide. The current Golf 8, on the other hand, is 2073 mm wide with exterior mirrors. And the Golf has also grown almost 60 centimeters in length over the years. So it needs a little more space to park. <\/p>\n
