It is often difficult for non-experts to determine if, when, and why a garage roof renovation is necessary. The need becomes obvious even to non-experts as soon as large puddles repeatedly form on the floor of a garage … but at this stage the damage is often already relatively advanced! Why renovate a garage roof?<\/h2>\n

Every roof has its lifespan, and this also applies to a garage roof. Like a normal house roof, a garage roof can be “covered” in different ways. It can be covered with a tiled roof with corrugated sheets made of plastic or bitumen; it can be covered with slate with fiber cement sheets or with the classic and most common variant: with a coating or welded sheets made of bitumen or similar waterproofing materials. <\/p>\n

Many reasons for a renovation<\/h3>\n

There are many reasons why the roof can leak over time. For example, because the welded bitumen roofing membranes curl over time, the seams become loose, or manual damage occurs because the water “stands.” Even the smallest spots can be sufficient for water to penetrate the substructure. But other areas, such as the roof drainage on a garage roof, can also cause leaks and thus damage. Even small causes, such as a blocked drain on the garage roof, can have a major impact.<\/p>\n

A tiled roof can lead to brittle tiles or a damaged substructure in the long term. The same applies to corrugated and fiber cement sheets. Even strong winds can cause damage! Individual roof tiles, corrugated and fiber cement sheets, and also pre-damaged welded sheets can quickly come loose. If the garage roof is not repaired quickly, minor water damage can quickly turn into a structural problem for the garage. Substructures can also be damaged quickly.
