Expansion of the garage plant in Baar-Ebenhausen successfully completed

On April 12, ZAPF GmbH will inaugurate a new production hall at its garage plant in Baar-Ebenhausen. In addition to the construction of the hall, the production facilities have also been expanded and modernized in recent months. With this major investment of around 4.5 million euros, ZAPF is strengthening its Upper Bavarian site, where garages for export to Austria and Switzerland have also been produced since the beginning of this year.

The new hall at the ZAPF garage plant has been completed after a construction period of around ten months. With a floor area of 100 by 28 meters, the reinforced concrete building is similar in size to the existing factory hall. Both buildings were connected by a gable wall opening as part of the construction work. “We have also expanded and modernized our production facilities so that both halls are now covered by an automated circulation system with transport trolleys, separate production stations and an adjoining drying chamber line that meets the very latest standards,” explains plant manager Richard Zackel.

In addition, new spraying stations were built where the garages can be plastered, painted and given a roof coating. A new graveling station for roof gravel and additional storage capacity were also created. With the purchase of an automated delivery vehicle, the transportation of the garages from the factory to the storage area, which was previously handled by truck, was made more efficient and a new indoor crane and extendable work platforms were installed in the new hall. The plant expansion, for which the company spent around 4.5 million euros, is modeled on the ZAPF plant in Dülmen, North Rhine-Westphalia, which was expanded into one of the most modern garage plants in Europe in 2016.

ZAPF is pursuing several goals with the modernization of the plant: “We were able to increase production capacity and further optimize the already good quality of our ZAPF garages. At the same time, the occupational health and safety standard and cleanliness in the plant have been further improved and, thanks to the more efficiently coordinated work steps, we are also achieving significant energy savings in production,” says Emmanuel Thomas, Managing Director of ZAPF GmbH.

With the plant expansion, Thomas believes the site is ideally equipped for the future. This is particularly important in view of the fact that the long-established company has expanded its delivery area to include the whole of Austria and Switzerland since January of this year and the garages for export are manufactured in Baar-Ebenhausen.

The new hall will be inaugurated with a ceremony on April 12. In addition to ZAPF employees and partners, representatives from the regional economy and politics are also expected to attend.
