ZAPF stands for garages, 400,000 to be precise. That’s how many prefabricated concrete garages the long-established Upper Franconian company has now built. And demand is still high, so the half million mark is probably not too far away.
Founded in 1904 as a construction company, ZAPF began developing prefabricated concrete garages in the 1960s. The first garage made of individual prefabricated parts was presented in 1961. Seven years later, the first monolithic prefabricated concrete garage was patented. ZAPF now concentrates exclusively on garage production and has become the strongest garage manufacturer in Europe. “Our recipe for success lies in the high standards we set ourselves. This applies to our products as well as our customer service,” says Managing Director Emmanuel Thomas. “That’s why anyone who chooses a ZAPF garage can rely on quality and all-round support from the first consultation to the turnkey installation.”
Business card of the house
The needs of garage owners have changed since the 1960s: “Today, the garage is more than just a covered parking space, it has become the home’s calling card,” says Ralph Raggl, Head of Sales at the company. “Customers want additional space and storage space, they value design, they want the garage to match their home visually and they want parking to be convenient.” ZAPF therefore has the right garage for almost everyone in its range. This includes the compact single garage, as well as the double or large-capacity garage, the “CLOU” designer garage or even oversized garages that are suitable for motorhomes or minibuses. There are also many different equipment options, including smart home systems and electric charging stations. “Nowadays, garages even function as investment properties, as parking spaces are a scarce commodity in urban areas, meaning that good profits can be made by building garage parks and renting out individual garages,” says Raggl.
ZAPF’s sales figures have been rising steadily for years and the products have long been in demand beyond Germany’s borders. ZAPF exports to Switzerland, France and Austria. Since the beginning of this year, the garage manufacturer has even had its own team in all parts of the country. The garages for export to Austria are manufactured at the Upper Bavarian plant in Baar-Ebenhausen. The site has been extensively expanded and extended in recent months and, like the ZAPF plant in Dülmen, is now one of the most modern garage plants in Europe. “We are therefore ideally equipped for the future and assume that the 500,000th ZAPF prefabricated garage can be installed in just a few years,” says Managing Director Thomas.
