And what is the best way to prevent garage fires? Find out here what you should pay attention to…
This is probably one of the biggest fears for most people – that there will be a fire. For good reason, it is therefore always important to carefully consider which type of construction offers which level of fire protection for all real estate issues – even when it comes to an outbuilding such as a garage.
Even if the majority of fires do break out in the main buildings, it does happen in individual cases that a fire starts in an outbuilding (e.g. due to a cable fire in a car) and then, in the worst case, spreads from the outbuilding to the main building. That’s why it’s good to know…

Prefabricated concrete garages and brick garages score particularly well in terms of fire protection due to the material used. Prefabricated reinforced concrete garages that comply with the DIN standard (such as those from ZAPF) meet above-average fire protection requirements because the entire structure is made of non-combustible material.
This means that this material also offers massive resistance to the effects of heat (from inside or outside) and generally retains its strength even at high temperatures. The prefabricated reinforced concrete garage will therefore not simply collapse during or after exposure to high temperatures.
In contrast to structures made of wood (e.g. timber frame construction), flammable plastics or materials coated with flammable paint… the reinforced concrete garage structure does not spread a fire – it may even shield the source of a fire from other flammable structures or elements. If (for whatever reason) a fire ignites inside a garage, the prefabricated reinforced concrete garage can actually (within certain physical limits) effectively protect the surrounding area from this fire.
Our smart solution
With our garage configurator, you can design your garage according to your wishes in just a few clicks – from the size to the fittings.
This is precisely why many experts expressly advise against keeping or storing easily combustible or flammable objects in the garage, for example. Dry garden waste in the typical compost bags or containers, for example, should not be stored in the garage, nor should firewood or leftover construction timber! Fuel such as petrol or diesel (for cars, motorcycles or even lawnmowers) is also relatively frequently stored in garages. Although this is even permitted in small quantities in certain federal states, it can have extremely dangerous consequences in the event of a fire. So it’s better to avoid it!
With our garage configurator, you can easily and intuitively put together the size, fittings, doors, windows, and extras in just a few steps. We will then arrange a non-binding consultation with you, based on which you will receive an individual offer, naturally at a fair price and without any obligation to buy. Experience your configured garage in an impressive 3D visualization during the non-binding consultation appointment.
