The ideal garage: how high should it actually be?

If you order a garage that is too low today, you will no longer be able to park your perhaps higher vehicles in it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow!

For classic cars, the garage height is not really a problem. Our best-selling garage model at ZAPF, for example, is 2.46 m high (this value is similar for many of our competitors), and practically any standard car fits in perfectly in terms of height. But more and more people are no longer ordering standard cars. And you should take a closer look in advance!

Garage mit Standardhöhe versus höhere Garage

Entscheidend für die Höhenplanung Ihrer künftigen Garage sind folgende Punkte:

Außenhöhe der Garage ungleich nutzbare Innenhöhe: Bei der Höhenplanung Ihrer neuen Garage sollten Sie sich nicht von der Außenhöhe leiten lassen, sondern von der Durchfahrtshöhe des Tores und der tatsächlich nutzbaren Höhe des Innenraumes (die unter anderem wegen des Deckenaufbaus und der nach unten in den Garageninnenraum hineinragenden Laufschienen des Tores deutlich niedriger ausfällt, als die Außenhöhe der Garage das vielleicht vermuten lässt).
Fahrzeugtyp: Besitzen Sie oder planen Sie den Kauf eines SUVs, eines Vans oder eventuell sogar eines Kompakt-Wohnmobils? Solche Fahrzeuge sind deutlich höher als gewöhnliche Personenwagen. Dazu kommt: Soll in der Garage die eventuell vorhandene Heckklappe geöffnet werden, wächst der Höhenbedarf ja noch zusätzlich! Das sollte dann unbedingt berücksichtigt werden!
Zubehör: Planen Sie, regelmäßig Dachträger oder Dachboxen zu installieren? Auch dies erfordert zusätzliche Höhe, wenn damit regelmäßig in die Garage eingefahren werden soll!
Zukünftige Flexibilität: Die Entscheidung für eine höhere Garage sichert Ihnen mehr Flexibilität für zukünftige Fahrzeugwechsel.

If you want (or need, because you have a correspondingly large and tall vehicle) to make full use of the garage’s interior space, you should definitely install a so-called Order sectional door.

Unlike up-and-over doors, which require space in front of and especially inside the garage to swing open, this is not the case with sectional doors. They open vertically, and the individual sections of the door are pushed under the ceiling in an arc, making the entire interior space usable.
