In fact, it makes perfect sense to “refurbish” old garages!

The term “refurbishing” is rarely used in connection with garages. However, the trendy term actually fits perfectly with what is possible with old garages – and also indicates why this can be quite effective!

A look at what is probably the best-known online reference work will help with classification!

Wikipedia defines refurbishing as follows:
“Refurbishing refers to the quality-assured overhaul and repair of products for the purpose of reuse …” (or reuse).

And this is exactly what reputable garage refurbishment experts (like us) have been offering for many years. However, the term “refurbishing” has, of course, become known recently for entirely different products. For example, refurbished smartphones, refurbished laptops, furniture, or bicycles …

However, the principle behind this term is always the same:

There are also several other fundamental and system-specific advantages that speak in favor of refurbishing old garages:

• Energy savings and CO₂ reduction: By renovating properties (and therefore also garages) instead of demolishing and building new ones, energy consumption can be drastically reduced due to the “gray energy” already invested (the building corpus contains energy that does not have to be put in again when the property is renovated) – and thus also reduce the CO₂ footprint at the same time!
• Saving resources: 517 million tons, or 90 percent of domestic mineral raw material extraction, and around 50 percent of the total raw materials used in Germany are (predominantly) used in (new) buildings (including garages). If a garage that has already been built is renovated, the amount of resources used is extremely low in comparison – and can therefore help to reduce the overall values.
• Waste and building rubble reduction: Every year, around 2.5 tons of construction waste and rubble are generated for each person in Germany (mainly for new buildings and demolitions). (By way of comparison, this is five times the amount of household waste generated for each person!) And here again, this figure can also be significantly reduced by refurbishment (instead of new construction and the prior demolition of the old property/garage).
• Cost savings: The construction of a new garage is quite costly. In this respect, it is understandable that this service must be remunerated accordingly. However, if – as in the case of a solid garage – the structural body and other central elements of an old garage do not have to be touched during a renovation, it is therefore also understandable that the costs for a renovation are significantly lower than those for a new garage.

In addition, old garages can usually be brought up to the latest comfort level (e.g., electric door drive, etc.) relatively easily during renovation. A modernized old garage, therefore, does not have to be worse equipped than an old garage!
