Reduce the risk of fire or theft

Prefabricated concrete garages offer more security than carports

Car fires are rare, but they do happen. A defective cable or a defective battery in electric cars as well as leaking gasoline that ignites on hot engine parts are possible causes of a vehicle fire. It becomes dangerous if the vehicle is parked in a wooden carport, for example, as the fire can then spread unhindered to the wooden structure and, in the worst case, to the adjacent residential building.

Prefabricated concrete garages are safer than wooden structures, as a fire can spread much less quickly. This is partly due to the properties of concrete as a building material, which can even compensate for high temperatures and still retain most of its stability. In short: concrete does not catch fire, does not form smoke and does not release toxic gases. Of course, a fire would also leave its mark on a prefabricated concrete garage, but adjacent buildings are relatively safe.

Protection against vandalism and theft

Speaking of security: protection against theft and damage is also a good argument in favor of a solid concrete garage. In contrast to a carport, a prefabricated garage offers an enclosed space in which the car is completely protected. Wind and weather cannot harm the car. “The risk of theft, vandalism or even marten damage is also much lower than if the car is parked in a carport or even outside,” says Ralph Raggl, Head of Sales at ZAPF GmbH.

In addition, almost every car insurance company grants a discount on the insurance premium if the car is parked in a garage. The sturdy construction of prefabricated concrete garages makes it difficult for burglars to gain access to the vehicle.

A high-quality garage door is particularly important for a high level of security in this context. Modern sectional doors cannot be broken open as easily as was sometimes the case with older up-and-over doors from the 70s or 80s. With the ZAPF sectional door, for example, an automatic latch washer engages around a sturdy bolt and thus prevents the door from being pushed up. A U-profile on both sides also secures the door against deliberate levering. With the door operator, this is done by the self-locking motor. This means that the prefabricated garage is always securely locked.

Even ventilation is not a danger, because unlike up-and-over doors, a high-quality sectional door does not remain completely open. With the premium sectional door from ZAPF, the floor segment does not have to be lifted in the ventilation position; instead, only the top slat opens.

With ZAPF, the prefabricated garage can also be controlled via an app to open or close the garage door. The current status – door open or closed – can also be checked while on the move. If a ventilation position is also installed, this is also intelligently controlled as required.
