The new smart garage from ZAPF can be controlled via an app. Networked and remote-controlled technology has long since found its way into the home.

Now ZAPF GmbH, Germany’s leading manufacturer of prefabricated garages, is also equipping the garage with intelligent technology. The smart garage with ZAPF Connect has been included in the sales portfolio since July 1 and can be ordered, with delivery expected to begin in September.

 

With the Smart Garage, all you have to do is press a button on your smartphone to open or close the garage door. The current status – door open or closed – can also be checked while on the move. If a premium sectional door with a ventilation function is installed, the ventilation is also controlled intelligently: if the humidity sensor reports excessive humidity to the app, the ventilation position is automatically adjusted. The top section of the door opens inwards a little, and the air can circulate while the garage door remains closed. “Smart homes are now almost standard in house construction,” says Jörg Günther, Managing Director of ZAPF GmbH. “We see the garage as the calling card of the house and want to offer our customers this technical convenience in their private parking garage too.”

 

Light barrier as a safety element

ZAPF Connect essentially consists of five components: the ZAPF Box, in which the control technology is installed; the ZAPF Stick as a receiver for the instructions from the box; the ZAPF App as a control element; the temperature and humidity sensor; and a light barrier for the door. “The light barrier has an important protective function,” explains Michael Stöckigt, Head of Concrete and Technology at ZAPF. “As the garage door can also be controlled with the app outside the field of vision, we can ensure that the door remains open if, for example, a child is standing in the door area.”

 

By the way: ZAPF Connect is designed as an open system. The integration of common smart home systems is already in preparation and can be easily updated via software updates. While the intelligent technology is available ex works for the ZAPF Smart Garage, it can be retrofitted to existing garages as part of a ZAPF garage modernization project.
