In fact, it is almost always possible to renovate and modernize even the very oldest solid garage in such a way that it can absolutely ‘keep up’ with a new garage in terms of technology and equipment – and at a significantly lower price compared to a completely new purchase.

If the old garage is a solid model made of concrete or bricks, it can practically always be renovated!
Facade renovation, garage roof renovation (possibly also as a premium solution with a monopitch roof), interior and floor renovation or garage door replacement – all this is possible and affordable! The old garage can therefore be refurbished at absolutely fair conditions – provided the basic substance is still reasonably sound.
And a solid old garage can also be retrofitted with modern comfort equipment!
Whether an eco-garage ventilator or (if a power supply is possible) an electric door drive (if desired also with intelligent smartphone control, various additional electrical installations (e.g. additional sockets etc.) or extremely elegant Doorlight forecourt lighting – an old garage can certainly keep pace with the topic of comfort after modernization!
Often a single point is decisive in the decision for or against replacing the old garage with a new one.
And that is the question of the required interior space! With a sectional door, it is certainly possible to gain some usable interior space (due to the elimination of the swinging range of the up-and-over door usually installed in older garages). However, an old garage that is only 5.50 m long is simply too small for some modern SUVs, especially if winter wheels are also to be stored in the garage and an extension cannot finally solve this problem. Then, but usually only then, it may make sense to replace the old, dilapidated garage with a new one.
