Das Auto im Sommer draußen stehen lassen?

That’s not such a good idea! Even in warm temperatures, the car should be parked safely in a garage for good reasons.

In winter, the garage protects the car from frost, moisture and rust damage – that makes sense. But even in summer temperatures, it is better to keep the car in the garage.

What can happen if the car is parked outside?

Winter ends and the flowers begin to bloom. Beautiful, but the pollen and pollen dust can attack the paintwork on the car. Bird droppings and insect droppings also stick to the paintwork and are sometimes difficult to remove – which in the worst case can damage the surface.

Sheet metal damage due to storms

Another risk for vehicles parked outdoors is the increasingly frequent occurrence of thunderstorms at high temperatures. In recent years in particular, Germany has been repeatedly hit by severe storms. Falling branches, fallen trees, hail and floods can severely damage cars. And even if the damage is covered by insurance (which is usually, but not always, the case) – trouble and expense are still inevitable.

Risk of car theft

Almost 11,000 vehicles were stolen in Germany in 2021. According to the GDV insurance association, more expensive models – and SUVs in particular – were stolen. Land Rover and BMW owners were affected particularly frequently (in relation to the vehicle population). In a comparison of the federal states and major cities, Berlin once again had by far the highest theft rate. The lowest rate, at 0.1 thefts per 1000 cars, was in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg (GVD, 21.10.2021).

Did you know? Parking in front of the garage: joint liability for car theft

Verkehrsanwälte.de informs: “If you state in the insurance contract that you park in the garage, then you must do so. If the car is only parked in front of the garage at night and is stolen there, you will have to pay for some of the damage yourself. After all, you also pay lower insurance premiums if you promise to park in the garage. This is the result of a decision by the Magdeburg Regional Court on September 11, 2018 (AZ: 11 O 217/18). The Traffic Law Working Group of the German Bar Association (DAV) therefore strongly advises you to adhere to the agreements in an insurance contract.”

Protected and burglar-proof parking? Then off to the garage!

All ZAPF garages are fitted with modern doors that meet high security standards and make it very difficult for thieves to steal them. There are two different types of door to choose from:

  • Up-and-over door: The up-and-over door is the tried-and-tested classic among garage doors. It consists of a single-leaf door leaf that is moved via lateral lever arms with balancing springs. It offers cost-conscious buyers excellent value for money—without having to compromise on attractive door embossing and individual design options.
  • Sectional door: The sectional door consists of individual elements, so-called sections, which are connected to each other by hinges. This allows the door to be conveniently pushed vertically under the ceiling or opened and closed without the need for additional pivoting space in front of the garage. This means: more space in and in front of the garage.

Both door types can be equipped with an electric door operator. This not only makes parking in the garage particularly convenient – it also offers a high level of burglary protection thanks to an anti-lift device.
