It’s the goal that counts

A typical detached house usually includes a garage – and this should fit in perfectly with the property both architecturally and visually. The garage door is the real eye-catcher and has a special impact on the appearance. And there is plenty of choice when it comes to this element in particular, as the garage experts at ZAPF GmbH, the renowned manufacturer of prefabricated concrete garages, can confirm.

The decisive factor at first glance is, of course, the right color – customers have a huge selection here alone. But much more important when making a decision is of course what functions the door should fulfill and what price and quality range it should be in. This is where future garage owners should weigh things up carefully.

The most important factors are price, functions and convenience. There are basically two types of door: the classic up-and-over door or the sectional door. The up-and-over door is the cheaper option and is therefore attractive for anyone who wants a particularly inexpensive garage. Of course, an up-and-over door can also be equipped with an electric drive and remote control, so that the door can be opened and closed without leaving the vehicle. Up-and-over doors are also particularly durable and robust. Disadvantage: As the name suggests, an up-and-over door swings and therefore has a certain radius. This means that it is not possible to park directly in front of the garage if the door is to be opened at the same time.

This is why the trend is clearly moving towards sectional doors, as the garage experts know, because the sectional door requires much less space: the efficient 90° door travel allows you to park your car directly in front of the garage and still open the door easily. And there is also more space in the garage itself, e.g. for estate cars or vans, as the door does not swing inwards and therefore requires considerably less clearance.

High security

A U-profile on both sides of the ZAPF sectional door also protects the door from being pried open. With the operator, this is done by the self-locking motor. This means that the prefabricated garage is always securely locked.

Regular ventilation is also necessary in a garage: An up-and-over door can only be opened completely. The sectional door is different. If this is brought into the “ventilation position” – manually, by hand-held transmitter or via app – only the top section opens, while the door at the bottom opens only minimally or even remains completely closed in the case of the Premium sectional door. The garage is thus supplied with fresh air and is still optimally protected against burglary. This even works automatically via the “ZAPF Connect” app: if the humidity sensor reports that the humidity is too high, the ventilation position is adopted.

The garage professionals at ZAPF have also designed a special lighting system for additional safety, especially in the dark: ZAPF Doorlight. An LED light strip is fitted ex works and mounted behind the reveal, directly above the garage door. The light at the front of the garage ensures greater safety in the dark and is also a real eye-catcher that skillfully sets the scene for the garage door and façade.

ZAPF Doorlight is available in combination with an electrically operated sectional door for almost all new prefabricated concrete garages. The ZAPF garage experts will be happy to advise you. Find out more on the ZAPF homepage at www.zapf-garagen.de
