Although many garages today have high-quality features, it may well be the case that their interior also needs to be renovated – for example, as a result of specific damage.
To ensure that the function of the garage (primarily protection from the weather) can continue to be maintained, the renovation work should be carried out early and comprehensively. This is the only way to prevent the worst from happening and to limit the amount of work required.
Different damage = different measures
As different as the damage inside a garage can be, the respective renovation work will be just as special. In the following, classic garage damage with the respective renovation work is explained.
Mold infestation is probably the most common form of garage damage. This is because a garage is always a tightly enclosed space that is often only ventilated very briefly through the open door or a tilted window. A wet vehicle brings additional moisture into the room, which then settles on the walls and leads to mold infestation in the long term.

Sufficient ventilation prevents mold growth
The most important measure in the event of such damage, in addition to adequate ventilation, is the correct removal of the mold. This should always be removed extensively, as mold spores multiply quickly. As garage walls are usually plastered areas, the surface can be scraped thoroughly with a rough brush. This affected area should then be left “open” for a certain period of time so that the residual moisture can simply evaporate. The area can then be replastered and painted if necessary.
When carrying out any renovation work in garages, care should always be taken to ensure that the various materials are intended for outdoor use. In contrast to the living area, which is generally always dry and heated, the garage is at the mercy of external factors (moisture, heat/cold, etc.). Accordingly, the materials selected should also be robust and resistant to maintain the quality of the garage in the long term.
