Remove winter dirt
Salt and grit usually accumulate on the garage floor over the winter. Remove the dirt from the garage floor to protect the surface from permanent damage caused by the sharp-edged stones and the aggressive salt crusts. It’s very simple: first sweep out, then wipe with a damp cloth – and then leave to dry out well with the door open. That’s it!

Compensating for increased humidity
Snow and slush can cause a certain amount of basic moisture to accumulate in the garage. The resulting increased humidity in turn causes mildew stains, mold or even rust on objects stored in the garage or, in the worst case, even on the vehicle stored there. To counteract this problem, the garage must be aired regularly, especially towards the end of winter and after winter! And not for too short a time, so that the floor in particular can dry out completely!

Garage door maintenance
Not much maintenance is necessary, but a little clear water (which can be used to clean the door and – depending on the appearance during the visual inspection – possibly also the tracks and rollers) and some special squeegee or lubricant for the locking cylinder (experts tend to advise against standard care products containing oil) can work wonders here.
Carry out a basic check
It is always best to check your garage for any weak points after the winter. Pay particular attention to any rust spots on the door springs, dark stains on the garage ceiling and cracks in the garage floor. Garages that are over 15 years old should be checked at least once a year.
