These ugly stains are particularly common on older flat-roofed garages, as the water runs or drips directly down the garage wall. This galvanized and coated roof edge design collects most of the rainwater and condensation that occurs at the edge of the garage roof and directs it to the inside of the garage roof, from where it can then run off via the rainwater collector and downpipe. This prevents the water from collecting at the edge and flowing or dripping down the outer wall of the garage as a dirty mess.
