Spring is here – flowers are sprouting everywhere and the bees are buzzing again! If you want to build a new garage but are thinking wistfully of the greenery you will have to sacrifice, you should opt for a green roof for your prefabricated garage. A green roof gives bees, butterflies and the like a little green oasis and can even be designed as a real little garden. ZAPF GmbH, which supplies one in four prefabricated concrete garages throughout Germany, not only implements green roofs on new garages, but can also add greenery to older models as part of a modernization project.
ZAPF offers two options for green roofs: Firstly, planting granules can be applied and planted with suitable plants such as small shrubs, grasses or herbs. Alternatively, pre-cultivated vegetation mats can be used, which are rolled out like a carpet on the garage roof. The prerequisite for both variants is a root-resistant roof seal or a root protection film that prevents the plant roots from penetrating the concrete.
This is followed by a drainage layer, which ensures that rainwater and condensation can run off. ZAPF offers both types of roof greening for new garages ex works on request.
Quick green with ECOSEDUM® PACK
Existing garages can also be retrofitted with greenery as part of a modernization project. With the ECOSEDUM® PACK, ZAPF offers a particularly convenient variant of planting. The clever vegetation system consists of rectangular modules that can be assembled to form an area of any size and applied to the roof waterproofing. As the units are already pre-planted, the plant roof is completely overgrown after just a short time. The special composition also means that hardly any maintenance is required.
