If you live in somewhat cooler regions of Germany, you will probably have an average of around 30 “scratching days” per year. Assuming 5 minutes per scratch, that makes a total of 7,500 scratching minutes in 50 years of driving. That’s 125 hours – or over 5 days of life!
Buying a garage not only saves valuable time! A garage also eliminates the unnecessary, engine-damaging and environmentally harmful running while the car is stationary, as is generally the case when clearing car windows of ice. Incidentally, this is also prohibited – Section 30 of the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) states: “When using vehicles, unnecessary noise and avoidable exhaust pollution are prohibited. In particular, it is prohibited to run vehicle engines unnecessarily and to close vehicle doors excessively loudly.”
