No more getting out of your cozy car to open the garage door.
Especially in the current transition period from fall to winter, almost every owner of an older garage knows the following problem: It is stormy, snowing or raining cats and dogs and yet you still have to get out of the dry, warm car to open the garage and then – loaded with shopping and full hands – awkwardly close the garage again in the cold. With an “electric garage door opener”, as the combination of electric garage door opener and remote control is also called by laymen, you will never have this problem again!
A light press on the garage door remote control opens and closes the garage all by itself and you can drive into the dry garage without getting out of the car. The electric door opener quickly becomes an indispensable everyday helper! Find out how to install it – even without a power connection – and other interesting facts about the electric “door opener” here:

Can an electric garage door opener be installed in all garages?
Yes, an electric door operator can be retrofitted to both prefabricated concrete garages and brick-built garages. The type of door is also irrelevant for installation, as a garage door operator can be fitted to up-and-over doors AND sectional doors. As a rule, the electric operator is installed under the garage ceiling.
Is it possible to install an electric door operator without a power connection?
In locations without a suitable power supply, it is possible to install a battery-powered drive. You can either charge the battery via the socket in the house or leave the charging to the sun – at least for the most part – and equip your garage with an appropriately connected and energy-saving solar module.
What different control elements are there for a garage door opener?
At ZAPF, we offer different variants of control elements for garage door openers.
The garage door is …
- …either controlled via a remote control with finger scanner
- …or operated via a radio code button
- …or simply opened and closed via the “ZAPF Connect” app.
Intelligent garage with the ZAPF Connect app
With the ZAPF app, no separate remote control is required for garage door control. The garage door is simply controlled via your smartphone (which you always have with you anyway). The door can be opened or closed at the touch of a finger and you can also check whether the door is locked when you are on the move.
Tip: The premium sectional door
If you are thinking of not only retrofitting an “electric door opener”, but also want a new garage door for your older garage, we recommend our premium sectional door. In addition to the basic advantages of a sectional door – such as more space in and in front of the garage – the Premium door offers the additional benefit of a sophisticated ventilation system. In combination with the ZAPF-Connect app, the intelligent system always reports via the app when the humidity in the garage is too high and automatically adopts the ventilation position. To do this, the top section of the premium door folds inwards a crack so that the air can circulate and no mold develops. Despite this, the door remains closed and burglar-proof – perfect!
