Keep a cool head when driving

New heat records are being reported again and again this summer and outside temperatures of over 30 degrees are not uncommon. The interior of parked cars can (not only) heat up extremely quickly in sunny locations – to temperatures of over 60 degrees. When you get in, you get that “sauna feeling”. This is not only unpleasant, but can also have a negative impact on health and, in this context, on reaction times, encouraging driving errors and thus an increased risk of accidents.

Of course, there are ways to counteract this. These include parking in the shade if possible and opening the doors and windows for a short time before setting off so that the overheated interior air can escape.

Get in and drive off – at any time of year

However, if you own a brick-built garage or a prefabricated concrete garage, you don’t have to worry about this – you can start your journey immediately and with a cool head, even when the outside temperature is very high. This is because concrete as a building material has a particularly good balancing effect. It stores the heat and only releases it slowly into the environment. “This means it stays pleasantly cool in a concrete garage even at outside temperatures of 30 degrees and more.”

Incidentally, the same effect comes into play in winter, only in reverse. The concrete absorbs the cool outside air and only slowly releases it into the environment, so that even at sub-zero temperatures, the temperature inside the garage remains above freezing and – as well as providing protection from snow – there is no risk of icy windows. “If you park your car in a concrete garage, you can rely on a pleasant indoor climate, both in summer and winter.”

Security and more

However, protection from heat and cold is just one argument in favor of having your own garage. There is also the security aspect: cars parked in a garage are much less likely to be stolen or damaged than vehicles parked outside. Martens also have no access to a properly locked garage. And: if you plan your garage generously, you can also benefit from additional storage space for tools, bicycles, garden equipment, etc.
